12/14/24 Dream: I had a dream that I was looking at a cursed RPG maker game created by forced prison labor, in which their souls became trapped in each character via some kind of magical curse. I remember a bunch of symbolic characters, such as a serial killer turned into a pirate with red eyes a psychotic smile and a very bloody sword; a thief’s soul turned into a rogue/ninja hybrid with no body but red eyes and shadow; a Meiji era prisoner turned into a shadowy samurai class member; a rapist turned into a disturbing smiling goblin; an abusive woman turned into a succubus with sexy but impractical armor; and most disturbing of all, an AGP predatrix convicted of entering the women’s bathroom for nefarious purposes being turned into a highly acidic slime girl with no ability to wear equipment. I played the game for a while, noting how there were about only 8 characters with unique traits. That was, until I died, and then began datamining the game in frustration. I decompiled it and then looked through the RPG maker menus, only to then see thousands of characters. For their in-game name, each prisoner was simply given a nickname like “The Cock”, “The Demon”, “The Harpy”, “Mr. Knife”, “Violator”, etc., but for their name in the code, they were referred to by their full names, alongside comments in the scripts begging for help and freedom from the game. I was then stuck in a moral quandary, wondering if I should free the prisoners or not, as I sat there at my computer staring at the code. I stared and stared for a few minutes, eventually deciding to give it some more time as I opened another tab to watch a gaming video. A gaming video then opened, showing Donkey Kong within a Dustborn combat sequence while that one concert theme from the game played on loop in the background, as he was punching the crap out of the JUSTICE robots, and somehow managing to trigger magical effects with his mighty monkey roars. I remember thinking “Huh, this is a weird mod…” and gong to click off, but I was transfixed at its comedic nature and decided to stay and watch the video for a bit longer. After about two more combat montages, I saw a glitchy cutscene between Donkey Kong and Theo in which they smoked a cigarette together and talked amongst themselves in Spanish, Donkey Kong’s model clipping through the earth and props the whole time, while Theo still looked relatively normal. This kept going on for a while until the video ended, wherein I then suddenly awoke. FIN.
Your dream is rich with symbolism and narrative elements that suggest deep psychological themes, creativity, and moral dilemmas. Let’s explore some of the major components:
Cursed RPG Maker Game: The setting of a cursed game might symbolize your feelings of entrapment or frustration in your own life. RPGs often reflect our personal journeys, so a "cursed" version can represent distorted realities or challenges you're facing. You might feel like you're navigating a situation that involves darker or troubling themes.
Trapped Souls and Characters: The characters embody various forms of transgression and moral failing (e.g., a serial killer, a rapist). This may reveal your concerns about ethics, justice, or the consequences of actions. Their confinement in the game could symbolize your perceptions of societal punishment or the inner struggles of people who have done wrong but are still human at their core, seeking redemption or freedom.
Moral Quandary: Your hesitation to free the prisoners reflects a conflict within you. It suggests you may be grappling with choices in your waking life that carry significant moral weight. This indicates a desire to help others but also a fear of the repercussions that may arise from those actions.
Datamining the Game: Delving into the code represents an investigation into the underlying issues or complexities of your life or the situation you’re facing. It highlights a curiosity and perhaps a feeling that there’s more beneath the surface of a situation than what appears.
Gaming Video with Donkey Kong: This segment introduces a tone shift and comic relief, contrasting with the darker themes earlier in the dream. It could indicate a need for escapism or humor in the face of serious issues. Donkey Kong’s chaotic antics alongside Theo may depict the absurdity of life, suggesting that even in serious circumstances, finding joy or laughter can be essential.
Glitches and Clipping Models: The depiction of glitchy graphics reflects imperfections in your own life or experiences. This could symbolize feelings of instability or unpredictability in your environment, pointing to the necessity for adaptability.
Overall, your dream weaves together themes of entrapment, morality, choice, and the juxtaposition of serious versus light-hearted elements. It could be a reflection of your current state of mind—an exploration of moral dilemmas you're facing, an urge to analyze complex situations, and a desire for humor amidst life's challenges. Consider what aspects resonate most with your waking life, as these elements might reveal insights into your subconscious considerations or emotions.
